Former Italy international Antonio Cassano has claimed that footballers only go to play in China for the money.
The ex-Real Madrid striker, who played 39 times for the Azzurri, has been without a club since leaving Hellas Verona last summer.
However, Cassano has dismissed the prospect a move to the lucrative Chinese Super League as "stupid", suggesting that an approach from a team within the league has already been turned down.
In addition, the 35-year-old admits that he would play for the right club "for free" as he has "already earned enough money".
"It's stupid. I don't even remember the name of the team who want to sign me," Cassano told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
"For me, everyone is free to do what they want. But whoever goes to play in China should admit they are doing it for the money.
"I want to know whether I can still make it. It needs a president and a coach who have 100% belief in me. Otherwise, I will leave it be.
"However, if I do find it, I'll be ready. I'll sign for free. I have already earned enough money."
Cassano made his Serie A debut for Bari at 17 and became the most expensive teenager in history when he sealed a £19.5m move to Roma in 2001.
