Steve McClaren: 'Newcastle United are not in a crisis'

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is adamant that his side cannot afford to panic despite their failure to secure a win in their opening six matches of the season.

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has insisted that the club are not in a "crisis" despite their failure to win a Premier League game this season.

The Magpies slipped to their fourth defeat of the campaign as a brace from Odion Ighalo fired Watford to a 2-1 win at St James' Park, despite a second-half strike from Daryl Janmaat.

McClaren is adamant that his side cannot afford to panic, but believes that they have to find a win sooner rather than later to ease the pressure on the team.

He told reporters: "No way is it a crisis. This is not a time to panic.

"I know the Premier League and we have to find a way to win. We have been searching for that win for six games."

Newcastle are 19th in the Premier League after six matches this season.
