Preview: Manchester United Women vs. Arsenal Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Manchester United Women and Arsenal Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Arsenal Women head into their Women's Super League fixture at Manchester United Women looking to extend their unbeaten record to eight matches.

While the North Londoners currently sit at the top of the standings, United are only seven points adrift after only losing one of their opening seven games.

Arsenal have endured a hectic schedule of late, playing four fixtures since November 7 and making a trip to Denmark during that period.

However, Jonas Eidevall's side have continued to perform to a high level, the Gunners having extended their unbeaten record in all competitions to seven matches.

Arsenal have lost just once in 17 outings this season, a 4-1 reverse at European champions Barcelona, but they still set the pace in the Women's Super League.

On a negative note, their 100% record was ended last time out, Arsenal having to score a last-minute equaliser to earn a share of the spoils at North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur Women.

They responded with a 3-0 victory versus Koge in the Women's Champions League, making it three wins in succession on the continent since the Barcelona setback.

Opponents Man United have also been in good form throughout this campaign, their only defeat coming by a 6-1 scoreline at the hands of Chelsea Women.

Nevertheless, Marc Skinner's team have posted too many draws with three stalemates in a row leaving his team down in fifth position.

To add to the frustration, they held leads in each of that triple-header, but the tide turned earlier this week in their WSL Cup tie with Manchester City Women.

Trailing after a third-minute goal, Skinner's side eventually posted a 2-1 triumph thanks to Ona Batlle's strike eight minutes from time.

Eidevall is expected to recall a number of players who dropped down to the substitutes' bench for the Koge game.

Manuela Zinsberger, Noelle Maritz, Steph Catley and Vivianne Miedema are all in line to feature in the starting lineup.

Having rotated his United team for the WSL Cup tie in midweek, Skinner is likely to select a side similar to the one which started against Everton Women last Sunday.

Ivana Fuso will hope to be handed another opportunity on the flank after getting on the scoresheet against City.

However, Ella Toone, who has netted three league strikes this term, should retain her spot, with Martha Thomas again leading the line.

Manchester United Women possible starting lineup:
Earps; Batlle, Mannion, Thorisdottir, Blundell; Zelem, Risa; Toone, Russo, Galton; Thomas

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Maritz, Wubben-Moy, Beattie, Catley; Little, Walti, Nobbs; Parris, Miedema, Mead

We say: Manchester United Women 1-3 Arsenal Women

On the back of three straight draws, United may feel under pressure to force the issue a bit more than usual. That may not necessarily work in their favour, however, and it leads us to predict another victory for Arsenal.
