Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has said that it is time for Paul Pogba "to move on".
The 27-year-old has largely struggled to show his best form since returning to Old Trafford in 2016 and has found himself out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's XI in recent weeks.
The World Cup winner has not started for United since their 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, with Fred and Scott McTominay currently being preferred in the middle of the park.
Pogba recently said that he 'dreams' of representing Real Madrid, while Juventus continue to be credited with an interest in their former player, whose current deal at Old Trafford runs until June 2022.
Ince has claimed that the France international has been "a problem" for the 20-time English champions since returning from Juve and should now be allowed to leave.
"Paul Pogba should be on the pitch (against Chelsea), this is a big, big game," Ince told beIN Sports. "For him to be sitting on the bench and watching, with no disrespect, McTominay and Fred playing in his position, I would be saying, 'I must be doing something wrong if I can't get in this team'.
"I know he has had an injury and he might be trying to bring him on a little later on. But I think it is time to move on. He has come out in the last two weeks and said he wants to join Real Madrid.
"I think his performances since he has been here have been inconsistent. Paul Pogba is a world-class player and when he moved to Old Trafford I thought, 'great', but all he has done is been a problem.
"The fans have gone against him and now Bruno Fernandes has come in and shown what you need to do to be a Manchester United player. He has performed consistently and Paul Pogba hasn't done that and that is why he finds himself on the bench."
A recent report claimed that United wanted to hand Pogba a new long-term contract but were not prepared to break the bank to keep him at the club.
