Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic announces that he will leave the club at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract.

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract.

The Serbian moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea for around £36m in the summer of 2017, and has gone on to make 183 appearances for the club so far.

Announcing the decision on his personal Instagram account, Matic said: "After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United.

"I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision. It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support.

"I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible."

The 33-year-old is yet to make a decision on his next move, whilst his last game for the Red Devils could be the club's trip to Crystal Palace on May 22.
