Louis van Gaal: 'Premier League different to La Liga and Bundesliga'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal plays down comparisons between the Premier League, the Bundesliga and La Liga.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dismissed comparisons between the Premier League, the Bundesliga and La Liga.

The Dutchman has previously worked in Spain and Germany with Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively, but he feels that neither league is similar to England's primary competition.

"I think that the rhythm of the game is very high [in England]," he told BBC Sport.

"You cannot compare it with Germany and Spain. I believe that there is always pressure on the ball and most of the English teams are playing physically.

"We have to keep more of the ball and we can improve our play much more."

Van Gaal has also coached in his homeland with AZ Alkmaar and Ajax, as well a stint with the Netherlands prior to joining United in the summer.
