Luke Shaw 'ready to justify £28m price tag'

Luke Shaw claims that he is ready to justify his £28m price tag after a difficult start to life at Manchester United.

Luke Shaw has insisted that he is ready to show Manchester United fans why the club were right to spend £28m on him last summer.

Since joining the Red Devils from Southampton, Shaw has endured a difficult campaign where he has struggled for fitness and form.

However, the England international is confident that he can produce the kind of performances that encouraged United to sign him.

"I am still young and coming to the biggest club in the world hasn't been easy for me," Shaw told The Telegraph.

"I haven't been playing and there has been a lot of negative comments about me.

"It is something that isn't nice and I've tried to ignore it, but hopefully the Chelsea game is the start of me coming back. I am positive. It was my first performance for six weeks, so it was great to be back on the pitch."

United are 11 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after their 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
