Gary Pallister: 'Luke Shaw will become world class at Manchester United'

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister believes that left-back Luke Shaw will develop into a world-class player at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister believes that the Old Trafford outfit were right to spend £30m on left-back Luke Shaw.

The 19-year-old left Southampton to make the move to Louis van Gaal's side, and despite making a considerable dent in their transfer budget, Pallister has insisted that United will get value for money from the England international.

Speaking at Chevrolet's 'What do you #PlayFor?' campaign, the 49-year-old said: "He was on the radar of a lot of big clubs and he will become a world-class player at United.

"That is the type of quality that we need, and there is money available, which might not always have been the case in recent seasons."

Shaw could face competition for the left-back spot at Old Trafford, with Argentina international Marcos Rojo close to sealing a move to the Premier League.
