Stoke City striker Michael Owen expresses his disappointment in sections of the media quoting the 32-year-old as stating that he should have left Manchester United a year ago.

Former England striker Michael Owen has insisted that he didn't claim that he wanted to leave Manchester United a year earlier than planned.

The 32-year-old, who signed for Stoke City on a one-year deal earlier this month, was quoted as saying that he should not have stayed with the former Premier League champions last season.

Owen tweeted: "Don't like the way some media saying I wished I had left United a year earlier. Never said that. Loved every minute of my time there."

Meanwhile, the frontman believes that he is fit to start for the Potters against Manchester City this weekend.
