Luke Shaw hails "superb" Paul Pogba display

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw heaps praise on Paul Pogba following his second debut during the 2-0 win over Southampton at Old Trafford.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has praised Paul Pogba following his performance on his second debut for the club this evening.

The France international was named in the starting XI for the first time since his world-record £89m return to Old Trafford, helping his side to a 2-0 victory over Southampton.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic continued his impressive start to life at the club by scoring both goals, and Shaw picked out the high-profile summer arrivals as the standout performers on the night.

"We're very happy. It's so important to get points on the board early on in the season. We're really happy with how we played, especially in the second half," he told MUTV.

"In the first half we were letting them get on top because of our mistakes, but we changed that in the second half. As soon as we got the first goal we knew that we could push on, and we did, we got another one, and that was the game.

"[Pogba] is a superb player. We knew what quality he was going to bring to the team, and he's got so much pressure on him in his first game and he didn't look fazed at all. He was one of our best players along with Zlatan, who obviously got the two goals for us tonight."

United sit top of the Premier League table having won their opening two games under Jose Mourinho.
