Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hits back at Iker Casillas

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hits back at Iker Casillas's claims that he should have confronted him during their time together at Real Madrid.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas over criticism of his management style.

The pair were involved in a high-profile dispute during their time together at the Bernabeu, with Mourinho dropping the long-serving shot-stopper from the team after accusing him of leaking stories to the media.

Casillas recently claimed that he should have confronted Mourinho about his style at the time, but Mourinho has suggested that the former Spain international did so in a sly and covert manner.

"It looks like an interview with someone who is at the end of his career," Mourinho told Portuguese outlet Record.

"When he says he never confronted me he's not telling the truth. He confronted me and he did it in a way in which no-one does it better than him - secretly."

Casillas went on to leave Real Madrid two years after Mourinho's departure in 2013.
