Jermaine Jenas: 'Manchester United are rigid'

Former England international Jermaine Jenas describes Manchester United as "rigid" and "a bit too boring" ahead of the Manchester derby.

Former England international Jermaine Jenas has described Manchester United as "rigid" ahead of this afternoon's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Both sides can move above Arsenal to top the Premier League table with victory this afternoon, with just two points separating the local rivals.

The former QPR and Tottenham midfielder told BBC Radio 5 live: "Sometimes when I watch them everyone looks rigid and does not seem free on the pitch.

"Only Juan Mata makes things happen. I haven't seen anything from Memphis [Depay], Wayne Rooney is not in form and Anthony Martial made a great start but has plateaued. It seems a bit too boring.

"I would always play Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin. United are desperate for someone like Schneiderlin to always play. I watched them against Arsenal and I've never seen such an immobile midfield."

Manchester City have won four of their last five matches against United.
