Memphis Depay talks up goalscoring potential ahead of first season in Manchester

Incoming Manchester United forward Memphis Depay suggests that he would have scored at least 15 goals had he joined the club in last summer's transfer window.

Incoming Manchester United striker Memphis Depay has suggested that he would have notched at least 15 goals for the club had he joined last summer.

The 21-year-old Dutch international became United's first signing in what is expected to be a busy transfer window, following a deal that is thought to be worth upwards of £25m.

"The level of the Premier League will make it harder for me to score and create opportunities," Depay told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

"But on the other hand I will have better team-mates at Manchester United so it is hard to compare.

"However, if you ask me I would have scored 15 of the 22 goals that I scored this season in England."

Depay's 22 goals for PSV Eindhoven helped to ensure that the club won the Eredivisie title by a 17-point margin last campaign.
