Louis van Gaal disappointed by defeat against Arsenal

Louis van Gaal says that Manchester United 'gave the game away' as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has expressed his disappointment after seeing his side crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of Arsenal.

Danny Welbeck scored the winner to subject the Red Devils to a 2-1 defeat and Van Gaal was particularly upset at the manner which his team conceded.

"I've said in the dressing room we gave [the game] away by ourselves and that is the biggest disappointment, " he told BBC Sport. "In the second half, we had the first chance also then we gave it away again.

"We don't lose from the opponent, we lost from ourselves and it was very disappointing. You play this match to win; to beat the opponent, we wanted to be in the semi-final."

United are back in action on Sunday when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford.
