Report: Manchester City prepare world-record bid for Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a world-record bid for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a world-record bid for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain claims that he is constantly in touch with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes about a possible move should the forward decide to return to the Premier League.

"I ask Jorge about situations every day. I can ask him every day about Cristiano," Begiristain told The Sun.

"Jorge works until late and during the transfer window he doesn't stop. If it was up to Jorge, he'd be calling you every day at two in the morning."

City reportedly had a £134m bid for Ronaldo rejected two years ago, but the big price tag still allegedly hasn't put off the reigning Premier League champions from upping their previous offer.

Ronaldo has been linked with a return to his former club Manchester United, after putting clubs on high alert by suggesting that his future with Real Madrid was unclear.

The Portuguese forward could spark a massive bidding war between the two Manchester clubs, if he were to announce his future lies somewhere other than Madrid.
