Manchester City are reportedly ready to begin contract negotiations with Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

Manchester City are reportedly ready to open contract negotiations with Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

Following City's two-year ban from European competition for breaching financial fair play rules, the futures of several of their top players have been brought into question in recent weeks.

However, the Daily Mail understands that the Premier League champions are keen to hold talks with De Bruyne and Sterling after the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with Real Madrid on March 17.

The report also suggests that both players could be in for a salary increase in order to tie them down to a new deal, despite the fact that neither of their contracts will expire until the end of the 2022-23 season.

De Bruyne has registered eight goals and sixteen assists in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola's side this season, while Sterling has managed 11 goals and one assist as City lie second in the table.

The Citizens will travel to Old Trafford to face arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
