Lionel Messi 'to stay at Barcelona until 2023'

Lionel Messi is supposedly ready to commit his future to Barcelona until 2023 before heading to the United States.

The 33-year-old, who tried and failed to force a move elsewhere in the summer, is free to enter talks with other clubs in January with his contract at Camp Nou due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are regarded as the favourites to land the six-time Ballon d'Or winner if he does call time on his Blaugrana career, while Inter Miami have also been linked with a swoop after he admitted that he would like to play in the MLS one day.

According to El Larguero's Jose Antonio Ponseti, Messi is indeed keen to move to Inter Miami but will wait until 2023 to make the journey across the Atlantic.

Ponseti claims that the Argentine is willing to stay on at Barcelona - where he has registered 10 goals and five assists in all competitions this season - for the sake of his children's education.

A recent report suggested that Messi is set to reunite with former Barca teammate Luis Suarez at Inter Miami - the MLS outfit co-owned by David Beckham - in the near future.

Manchester City's Eric Garcia 'agrees personal terms with Barcelona'

Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia has reportedly agreed a five-year contract with Barcelona.

The 19-year-old left the Spanish giants for City in 2017 and has developed into a first-team player for Pep Guardiola's side, making 30 appearances in all competitions.

The Spain international has rejected the chance to pen a new deal at the Etihad Stadium, though, and his existing terms are due to expire in June 2021.

Garcia has been strongly linked with a return to Spain over the last few months, and according to The Guardian, the teenager has agreed personal terms over a five-year deal with Ronald Koeman's side.

However, the report claims that it is still unclear whether Barca will attempt to agree a cut-price deal with City in January in order to sign him for the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.

Garcia has made seven first-team outings for the Citizens this term, including three in the league.
