Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Schalke 04

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League last-16 second leg against Schalke 04.

Manchester City host Schalke 04 on Tuesday night looking to take another step towards a possible quadruple this season.

Leading 3-2 from the first leg of the Champions League tie, Pep Guardiola's side sit firmly in the driving seat but still have some work to do to confirm their place in the quarter-finals.

Saturday's Raheem Sterling-inspired victory over Watford was a ninth win in a row across all competitions for City, and they will be big favourites to bring up double figures in that run at the Etihad Stadium.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the Premier League champions ahead of the match.

MANCHESTER CITY'S INJURY LIST

Possible return date: March 30

Man City have coped well without Fernandinho so far, but they will be missing the Brazilian for at least two more games with Guardiola having suggested that he will not feature until after the international break.

There have been some contrasting reports regarding the severity of De Bruyne's hamstring injury, but the Belgian is now not expected back until after the international break at the earliest.

Mendy's knee problems refuse to go away at the moment, and the full-back has suffered fresh inflammation which will keep him out of this match.

Nicolas Otamendi picked up a red card in the first leg of this tie which will rule him out on Tuesday night. Having initially been booked nine minutes before half time in Germany, he was then shown a second yellow in the 68th minute for a foul on Guido Burgstaller.

Fernandinho may be ruled out of this match through injury, but even if he was fit he would be suspended after picking up a yellow card in the first leg.
