Brendan Rodgers keen to remain positive in wake of defeat

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants his side to learn from last season and use defeat at Old Trafford to help inspire a long unbeaten run.

Brendan Rodgers has suggested that he will take solace from last season in an attempt to turn around Liverpool's form.

The Reds have now gone three games without a win after losing 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Liverpool used a 3-0 reverse at the same ground last season to kick-start a 13-game unbeaten run, which helped lift them into top-four contention.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Rodgers said: "You are never happy when you lose a game, especially to your rival. The only positive for me is that we had a defeat here last year and we got better.

"The key for us is to initiate a game and create chances, that is something we need to be better at."

Liverpool are now down in ninth place in the Premier League table.
