Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk shares update on recovery from knee injury

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk updates fans with his recovery in a video on social media, where he is seen working in the weights gym and kicking a ball again.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has shared a video of his rehabilitation on Instagram as he fights to return for the Reds before the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has been out of action with an ACL tear after a challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford - which controversially went unpunished - in October's Merseyside derby.

There were initial fears that Van Dijk would not be able to take to the pitch again this season, but the defender has filled the Anfield faithful with hope after sharing a video of his recovery on social media.

Van Dijk is seen working in the weights gym and kicking a ball again with the caption "Step by step", but whether or not the Netherlands international will return to action before the end of the campaign remains to be seen.

Jurgen Klopp's men have had to deal with a plethora of injuries this season, with Van Dijk's centre-back partner Joe Gomez also sidelined for the long term, but the Reds nevertheless lead the way at the top of the Premier League table - four points clear of second-placed Leicester City.
