Neither Levante nor Sporting Gijon were able to break the deadlock during their relegation six-pointer at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia this evening.

It is a result that has left the bottom-placed hosts four points adrift of safety, while Gijon in 19th are three points better off.

In a first half of very few clear openings, the away side went closest to opening the scoring when Pablo Perez rattled the upright with a shot from inside the penalty area.

After the restart, Levante's Victor Casadesus also hit the woodwork as his rising effort cannoned against the crossbar, before defender Zouhair Feddal was handed his marching orders in stoppage time.

Ultimately, though, the final scoreline has done little to help either side's quest to secure their status as a La Liga club for another season.
