Leicester City 'reach £6m agreement with Celtic for Brendan Rodgers'

Leicester City are in advanced talks with top managerial target Brendan Rodgers after reaching a £6m compensation agreement with Celtic, according to a report.

Leicester City are reportedly on the verge of naming Brendan Rodgers as their new manager after reaching a compensation agreement with Celtic.

The Foxes have moved quickly to land their first-choice target, who has previous experience in the Premier League with Swansea City and Liverpool.

Rodgers has spent the past three seasons north of the border with Celtic, winning a clean sweep of domestic trophies in his first two campaigns and remaining on course to do likewise this term.

However, The Sun reports that the Northern Irishman will not stay at Celtic Park to see the job through as he is expected to be in charge for Leicester's meeting with Watford on Sunday.

Leicester are said to have handed over £6m to the Hoops as part of the agreement, and personal talks with Rodgers are now at an advanced stage.

Rodgers was given a tour of the King Power Stadium on Tuesday afternoon and will now succeed Claude Puel as the East Midlands outfit's third manager since title-winning boss Claudio Ranieri was sacked nearly two years ago to the day.

City parted company with Puel on Sunday following a poor run of form that leaves them 12th in the table.
