Nigel Pearson: 'I still respect the cup competitions'

Nigel Pearson insists that he still respects the FA Cup ahead of this weekend's clashes.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has said that he still has respect for the FA Cup ahead of his side's showdown at Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

Pearson, who accepts that several Premier League clubs have a different perspective due to the prospect of European football, insists that there is no reason that a Championship club should treat cup competition without respect.

"I don't care what anyone says about our domestic cups," he said. "I've been fortunate enough to play in both finals and it really is a wonderful feeling.

"The emphasis may have changed for Premier League clubs because of the draw of European football, but I don't think we should take our domestic cups lightly.

"It's a chance for players to go out there in something slightly different to the week-to-week league games. I still have the same respect for cup competitions that I have always had."

The Foxes were held to a 2-2 draw during their last visit to Forest in August, despite taking a two-goal lead.
