Leeds United come from behind to beat Ipswich Town

Leeds United come from behind to beat Ipswich Town 2-1 at Portman Road.

Leeds United have beaten Ipswich Town 2-1 at Portman Road this afternoon.

The visitors came from behind thanks to a second-half Ross McCormack strike.

Ipswich thought they had taken the lead after just eight minutes when Jay Tabb tapped in from close range, but he was denied by the offside flag with goalkeeper Paddy Kenny stranded.

They did take the lead shortly after, when David McGoldrick picked up a loose ball just outside the box and curled the ball in off the post.

Aaron Cresswell then curled an effort on to the crossbar, before Leeds got back on level terms. McCormack broke forward and scuffed his shot into the path of Luke Varney, who reacted well and fired past the goalkeeper.

Shortly into the second half the away side took the lead thanks to McCormack, who cut in from the left and curled the ball into the goal, although Scott Loach might feel he should have saved the effort.

The home side almost drew level with 20 minutes to go, but Noel Hunt was on hand to block Tommy Smith's header off the goal line.

The hosts continued to push forward as the game came to its conclusion but were unable to find an equaliser.
