David Hockaday issues Dominic Poleon challenge at Leeds United

Leeds United boss David Hockaday challenges striker Dominic Poleon to remain with the club and work his way into the first team.

Leeds United boss David Hockaday has challenged Dominic Poleon to stay at the club and battle his way into the first team.

The 20-year-old striker has been linked with a move elsewhere in recent weeks due to competition for places at Elland Road.

However, Hockaday is eager for the youngster to prove his worth during the 2014-15 campaign.

"At the moment, he's a great lad to have on the bench. The challenge for him is to get in the starting 11 rather than just the 18," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"There's lots of work to do but he's a good, honest boy and every time he comes on, he has an impact."

Leeds added another striker to their ranks on Wednesday with the signing of Billy Sharp from Southampton on a two-year deal.
