Darron Gibson reveals that he is pleased to open his goalscoring account for Everton.

Darron Gibson has admitted that he is pleased to have opened his goalscoring account for Everton this evening.

The Irish midfielder scored the only goal of the game as the Toffees defeated league leaders Manchester City 1-0 at Goodison Park.

Gibson also revealed that he is expecting to hear from some of his former Manchester United teammates.

"The lads went out and put a shift in and it paid off for us," he told BBC Sport. "Everyone defended well, right from Denis Stracqualursi up front.

"It was good to get off the mark and I'll probably be getting a few phonecalls from my former teammates."

Gibson joined Everton earlier this month.
