Roy Hodgson: 'England will learn from Spain loss'

Roy Hodgson says that England will improve after their 2-0 international friendly loss to Spain.

Roy Hodgson has said that England will learn from their 2-0 loss to Spain.

Goals from Mario Gaspar and Santi Cazorla clinched the win for Spain in England's first friendly since completing their successful European Championship qualifying campaign.

"I thought for 70 minutes we defended really well. The work rate and discipline were very good and it's a little bit sad that it was a counter-attack when it looked like we were going to be breaking forward," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.

"The first goal was going to be the crucial one. There wasn't that many goals in the game but Spain were very good. It was a really tough ask for our midfield.

"Hopefully we'll learn from this evening and hopefully we won't lose confidence because there's still a lot more to come."

England will play France in a friendly on Tuesday evening.
