Frank Lampard says that Everton have not received a £60m bid for Anthony Gordon, while stating that the club intend to sign a new striker as soon as possible.

Frank Lampard has dismissed reports which have stated that Everton have received a £60m offer for Anthony Gordon.

Chelsea are known to be interested in signing the winger before the end of the summer transfer window as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen his options in the final third.

The Blues - Lampard's former club - have allegedly have a number of bids rejected for the academy graduate, who has established himself as one of Everton's key players.

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to pay as much as £60m for an attacker who has contributed four goals and eight assists in 63 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.

However, speaking to reporters at a press conference on Friday, Lampard has dismissed suggestions that Everton have already received an improved bid for the 21-year-old.

The Englishman said: "No, hasn't come in. He's our player so he's in the squad for tomorrow. He's a huge player for us.

"I said it last week not only is he a big value for the club. If you want to talk financially, but more importantly for me a big value to the squad and the team. They haven't bid £60m."

The interest in Gordon comes at a time when Everton are low on numbers in the final third, a consequence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin's knee injury and Dele Alli moving to Besiktas.

Nevertheless, Lampard says that the situation will soon be resolved with at least one new frontman due to arrive at Goodison Park before the start of September.

Lampard added: "It will happen. And we have Dominic Calvert Lewin coming back, as I say so but it's an area that we're well aware of.

"Then the last thing we wanted to do is the last thing that we should do, is bring a player in on a whim or in a rush, there's not going to improve the squad, now and generally and I think those those are clear things if there have been any mistakes previously, we don't want to make those.

"We want to work together joined up to make sure we make the right decisions for the club in the right areas, and it's really important that we do that."

Everton are allegedly closing in on a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion's Neal Maupay, who has less than 12 months on his contract and has also been linked with Fulham.

Lampard is also said to hold an interest in Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz, who has the same length of time on his deal at Ewood Park.
