Andre Schurrle: 'Points were most important for Chelsea'

Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle says that three points against Fulham were important for his side to maintain their Premier League title ambitions.

Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle has said that three points were most important for his club today, with the young German scoring a hat-trick as the Blues beat Fulham 3-1 in the Premier League.

Schurrle grabbed all of his goals in 16 second-half minutes, before Johnny Heitinga scored a late consolation for the home side.

"The most important thing was the points," he told reporters. "With the three goals for me, it's a perfect day. The manager (Jose Mourinho) said little at half time, telling us to get on with it.

"This is the spirit of the team. We played very poorly in the first half and very well in the second. The players were a little tired after Wednesday but we showed our quality."

The victory sees Chelsea sitting at the top of the Premier League table
