Jose Mourinho: "We couldn't kill the game"

Jose Mourinho says that his Chelsea side had control of the match against West Bromwich Albion, but were unable to "kill the game".

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that his players dominated the first hour of the match against West Bromwich Albion, but says that their failure to take their chances has cost them three points.

The Blues went ahead when Branislav Ivanovic converted David Luiz's cross just before half time. However, despite creating chances for the second, the visitors were unable to double their lead.

Victor Anichebe made them pay for their wastefulness with a late equaliser, but Mourinho says that the Baggies were fortunate to still be in the game.

"In the last 20 minutes they put us under pressure and they scored a goal as a consequence. Maybe they deserved that point. A point is a point and at the end of the season we will see," Mourinho told BBC Sport.

"I think the game for 60 minutes was completely in our hands, West Brom didn't put one foot in our box. We couldn't kill the game."

Chelsea are still two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the league, but the Gunners can go above them with victory against Manchester United on Wednesday night.
