Cardiff City manager Russell Slade: 'Low attendances not down to style of play'

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade dismisses suggestions that his side's style of play is the reason for low home attendances.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has dismissed suggestions linking his side's style of play with low home attendances.

The Bluebirds averaged attendances of over 27,000 during their 2013-14 Premier League campaign, but have seen that number decrease dramatically with just 13,715 turning up to last week's 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the Cardiff City Stadium.

"I don't know why fans are not coming, I will leave that to you to decide that, but I don't think the way we are playing is a factor," Slade told reporters.

"It's been a decent start with some strong team performances in the seven games. I've not given it much thought, not really. My thoughts are on picking the side and getting a result at Rotherham. That's my priority.

"I thought the atmosphere was very good against Hull. In defeat it was nice to see the fans still applauded the team off. They were right behind us and that was fantastic. But of course you want more numbers to come and watch your team."

Cardiff currently stand 7th in the Championship, and are next in action later today away to Rotherham.
