Marinus Dijkhuizen impressed by "very talented" David Button

Marinus Dijkhuizen claims that David Button is the "best goalkeeper I have worked with", while backing the Brentford stopper to ply his trade in the top flight one day.

Brentford manager Marinus Dijkhuizen has backed goalkeeper David Button to light up the Premier League in the years to come.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window after making an impressive start to the Championship campaign.

Having now kept hold of his first-choice stopper, Dijkhuizen was quick to praise the work of his backroom staff who have helped improve Button's all-round game.

"David is a very talented goalkeeper," Get West London quotes the Dutchman as saying. "He's the best goalkeeper I have worked with and, in a couple of years he'll play in the Premier League. He's already very good but he'll be an excellent goalkeeper I think.

"I'm very happy with [goalkeeping coach] Simon Royce because he's the only English coach in my staff. He's experienced in the Championship.

"I think we have a good connection. I just played darts with him and I lost so I wasn't happy with that. He's very good in the dressing room. He knows the players very well. He's an important member of staff."

Brentford have conceded eight goals in their opening four Championship fixtures.
