Bournemouth pegged back by Cardiff City

Bournemouth see their three-game winning run in the Championship come to an end after a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City.

Bournemouth have been knocked off the top of the Championship table following a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City this evening.

The visitors came close to breaking the deadlock in the second minute when Callum Wilson placed Matt Ritchie's cross wide of the post.

They threatened again moments later as Marc Pugh crashed a strike from range against the crossbar.

Craig Noone had Cardiff's first chance of the evening, but his low effort was saved by Artur Boruc.

It only seemed a matter of time until the deadlock would be broken, and in the 16th minute Harry Arter fired a strike into the top corner to give Bournemouth the lead.

The visitors threatened a second goal, and Brett Pitman volleyed over before seeing a header saved by the keeper.

Bournemouth held on to their narrow lead going into the break, but shortly after half time Kenwyne Jones had a glimpse of goal with a header from Noone's cross that was saved by Boruc.

Wilson was then denied by the post after being set up by Pugh, but as the game edged past the hour mark Cardiff equalised as Bruno Ecuele Manga headed in from Peter Whittingham's corner.

Both teams pressed for a late winner, but a second goal proved elusive as Bournemouth dropped below Watford and Middlesbrough in the league.
