Blackburn Rovers come back to earn draw with Watford

Blackburn Rovers come back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Watford at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Watford at Ewood Park in the Championship this afternoon.

Goals from Matej Vyrdra and Daniel Tozser gave the visitors a commanding first-half lead, but Rovers responded with strikes from Rudy Gestede and Ryan Tunnicliffe in the second period.

Vyrdra struck his first goal of the season on the half-hour mark when he tucked a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Tozser doubled the advantage with a free kick shortly before half time, and the Hornets were good value for the lead after the 45 minutes.

However, Gestede reduced the deficit seconds after the restart when he headed home Markus Olsson's cross.

Gary Bowyer's side had their equaliser with just under 15 minutes of normal time remaining when Tunnicliffe turned home Ben Marshall's cross with a close-range header.

Rhodes nearly gave his side the lead late on, but his effort was well-saved by Heurelho Gomes as the game edged into stoppage time.
