Quique Setien 'set to stay at Barcelona after crisis talks'

Barcelona manager Quique Setien will keep his job at the helm "for the time being", according to a report.

Barcelona manager Quique Setien will reportedly keep his job "for the time being", having held crisis talks with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Friday.

The Catalan giants have seen the La Liga title wrestled away by Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane's side securing the championship with one game to spare.

Barca will enter their final league game of the season against Alaves off the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Osasuna, and there had been suggestions that Setien could be on his way out.

However, according to the Evening Standard, following a meeting with Bartomeu on Friday, it was decided that the head coach would stay for at least the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with Napoli on August 8, in addition to a potential quarter-final against Bayern Munich or Chelsea.

The report claims that the board are reluctant to make another change to their management team at this moment in time, with Setien only replacing Ernesto Valverde at the helm in January.

Lionel Messi was hugely critical of Barca following the defeat to Osasuna, with the Argentine branding the team "weak and vulnerable".
