Josep Maria Bartomeu seems to have confirmed the imminent departure of Barcelona head coach Quique Setien on the back of last week's 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has appeared to confirm that head coach Quique Setien has been sacked.

The 61-year-old replaced Ernesto Valverde at Camp Nou in January and has presided over a terrible run for the Catalan giants.

Barca ended the domestic campaign trophyless and faced a humiliating 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals last week.

An official announcement is expected to be made on Monday following a board meeting, but Bartomeu has suggested that a decision has already been made.

According to Spanish outlet Cope, Bartomeu told reporters "Setien is out" when probed by reporters on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino, Massimiliano Allegri, Ronald Koeman and iconic Barca midfielder Xavi are all supposedly in contention to succeed Setien.
