Report: Jose Gimenez facing two weeks out

A report claims that Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez will miss the next two weeks with a thigh problem that he sustained during a training session on Friday.

Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez could reportedly miss the next two weeks of the season after picking up a thigh problem.

The 20-year-old, who broke into the first-team picture last season, has started every one of Atletico's La Liga fixtures in the new campaign.

According to AS, however, that run of consecutive appearances is now in doubt after the centre-back picked up a thigh injury during training on Friday.

Gimenez will therefore miss Sunday's match against Sporting Gijon, while he has also dropped out of Uruguay's latest international squad.

Summer signing Stefan Savic, who has played just twice this season, is now expected to come into the Atletico XI alongside Diego Godin.
