Remi Garde: 'We have not let Aston Villa down'

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde insists that the players did not let the club down in their defeat at Everton on Saturday.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has insisted that the players did not let the club down in their defeat at Everton on Saturday.

The French coach saw his new side beaten 4-0 by the Toffees at Goodison Park, a result which leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and five points away from safety.

When asked if he felt his players had let the club down, Garde told the Express & Star: "Not at all. It was not a question of letting it down.

"It was more a question of Everton being a very good side. They are well balanced and have known each other for a long time.

"We have a lot of new players and we have to work all together to, one day, become like Everton."

Villa have not won in their last 12 games.
