Roy Hodgson fears Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain knee ligament damage

England manager Roy Hodgson admits that the side is worried that midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may have sustained knee ligament damage during the draw with Ecuador.

Roy Hodgson has admitted that England are concerned that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may have sustained ligament damage in his knee during a friendly just 10 days before the team's first match at the World Cup.

The Arsenal midfielder was substituted with just over an hour played in the 2-2 draw with Ecuador in Miami this evening.

In his post-match press conference, the England manager told reporters: "We have our fears there might be some ligament damage."

The 20-year-old missed the early part of the 2013-14 Premier League season after injuring his knee on the opening day of the campaign.
