Simon Cowell's huge new boyband show for Netflix will reportedly be called Simon Cowell: Midas Touch.

Simon Cowell's huge new show for Netflix is to be called Simon Cowell: Midas Touch, it has emerged.

The media mogul - responsible for The X Factor and the Got Talent franchise - is aiming to assemble the UK's next big boyband in the new show, following on from his unprecedented worldwide success with One Direction last decade.

Last month Cowell launched a "Simon needs you" campaign to encourage boys who are "around 16-18 years of age" this October to audition for the show if they believe themselves to be "a global superstar in the making".

The auditions process will be along similar lines to The X Factor and will begin next week, with Liverpool, Dublin and London chosen as the audition locations.

Further details about the format - including whether there will be additional judges, or if there will be a 'live shows' element to the series - are currently unknown, although the application form suggests that the final cast could be selected between October 14 and 18.

A source told The Sun: "Simon has been speaking to Netflix for months about this new show and they're close to dotting the I's and signing the T's.

"Netflix is the perfect place for his new show and Box To Box, who are producing the series, have worked with them before.

"Simon and his team have been working so hard on getting the show off the ground and a final deal is so close now.

"The name of the show has given people a bit of a laugh. Simon knows he is the best at what he does and calling his show Midas Touch gives a new meaning to blowing your own trumpet."

Applications for the show remain open online for the next month.
