Channel 4 has commissioned a new documentary that will see former footballer Jermaine Jenas investigate the online abuse aimed at players.
The issue has been back in the spotlight this week after England players Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho were subjected to vile racist abuse online after the Three Lions' penalty-shootout loss in the Euro 2020 final.
In Football Trolls, which has been filmed over the last six months, Jenas confronts online trolls head on and also speaks to Premier League footballers about the abuse they have received.
"This film is incredibly important to me and something I've been working on for a while," he said.
"There has been an ongoing conversation surrounding racism and football for as long as I can remember, and the reactions to the Euros has been heart-breaking.
"I've felt sick to my stomach reading the comments and chants and promise to make it my mission to help create positive change."
The documentary is expected to air in the coming months.
