Melanie Sykes lined up for Strictly Come Dancing?

TV presenter Melanie Sykes is the latest name to be linked with a stint on the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor.

TV presenter Melanie Sykes is reportedly in contention to take part in this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC ballroom contest is going ahead as planned this year despite the coronavirus pandemic, although the run has reportedly been cut down from 13 weeks to just nine.

According to The Mirror, 49-year-old Sykes - known for The Big Breakfast and Today with Des and Mel - is the latest target for the show, with odds on her appearing shortened to 7/2.

In May, Sykes marked three years of being sober after deciding to ditch booze, telling the AlcoholChange website: "I've fronted up to my fears and believe me there have been tears, but the highs have felt a damn sight better than any beer buzz, or a three-glasses-of-wine thrill. With sobriety comes clarity."

Strictly is due to begin on BBC One in mid-October.
