Former House of Commons Speaker John Bercow is reportedly the BBC's top target for this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.
The 57-year-old served in the role from 2009 to 2019 and since stepping down has been a regular on the speaking circuit, while he has also published his autobiography.
The BBC is said to have tried and failed with an approach for Bercow for the last series, but according to The Sun, producers are now planning a fresh approach.
"He's been in demand ever since he quit the Commons in 2019 but so far has resisted any offers, no matter how much is being offered," a source told the newspaper.
"John is such a big personality and would be so much fun, hence why they're so keen to get him on board.
"There has even been talk of offering him more than the standard fee."
Bercow has also been courted by ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, which is able to offer a significantly higher fee than Strictly.
