Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse win Strictly Come Dancing 2020

Bill Bailey is crowned Strictly Come Dancing's oldest ever champion.

Bill Bailey and his pro partner Oti Mabuse have been crowned champions of Strictly Come Dancing 2020.

At the age of 55, the comedian becomes the show's oldest ever winner, while Oti becomes the first person to successfully defend their crown the following year, having won with Kelvin Fletcher in 2019.

In the final Bill beat off competition from HRVY and Janette Manrara, Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez, and Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer.

"It feels surreal, it feels extraordinary, it feels wonderful," he said after the result was declared. "I never thought we'd get this far but I've had the most extraordinary teacher.

"She believed in me from the very beginning and she found something in me."

Oti told Bill: "Thank you for being a friend and a father figure to me. And thank you for this [trophy]!"

This year's series managed to go ahead despite the ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic, although the run was shortened from 13 weeks to just nine as a result.
