AJ Pritchard quits 'Strictly Come Dancing'

AJ Pritchard announces that he has quit Strictly Come Dancing in order to pursue a new career as a TV presenter.

AJ Pritchard has announced his decision to leave Strictly Come Dancing after four years on the show.

The 25-year-old managed a best finish of fourth in the contest when partnered with gymnast Claudia Fragapane in 2016, while other partners have included Mollie King, Lauren Steadman and Saffron Barker.

In a statement, Pritchard's management confirmed that he has quit the show in order to pursue a presenting career with his brother Curtis, who appeared on last summer's Love Island.

"After four years on Strictly Come Dancing, AJ has decided the time is right to leave the show and follow his dreams to explore opportunities in the presenting world alongside his brother Curtis," the statement said.

"AJ would like to thank the team at Strictly and everyone at the BBC for giving him such a brilliant opportunity.

"AJ would also like to send his love and gratitude to all who have supported and followed his career. He is excited for you all to join him on the next chapter of his journey."

The new series of the popular BBC dance show is due to begin in September.
