Prue Leith and Arlene Phillips are both given damehoods in The Queen's set of birthday honours.

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has been made a Dame in The Queen's birthday honours for her services to food, broadcasting and charity.

A significant proportion of the 1,129 people announced in the latest set of honours are being recognised for their work during the coronavirus pandemic - alongside the usual eye-catching list of people from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

As expected, former Strictly Come Dancing judge and renowned choreographer Arlene Phillips is also made a Dame, while Oscar-nominated actor Jonathan Pryce is given a knighthood.

Both Robert Rinder, aka ITV's Judge Rinder, and his mother Angela Cohen are awarded MBEs for their work around Holocaust education, which included the powerful BBC documentary series My Family, The Holocaust and Me last year.

Lulu, ex-Crimewatch host Nick Ross and sport presenter Sue Barker are all made CBEs, Luther's Ruth Wilson, Alison Moyet and Engelbert Humperdinck become MBEs and Skunk Anansie singer Skin is awarded an OBE for services to music.

Sporting honours include Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling (MBE), former England manager Roy Hodgson (CBE) and Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson (MBE).
