Nigel Farage breaks silence after sudden LBC exit

Nigel Farage gives his reaction after he parted ways with LBC on Thursday.

Nigel Farage has spoken for the first time after his sudden departure from LBC yesterday.

The 56-year-old and the radio station agreed to part ways after a week in which the Brexit Party leader was criticised for describing the Black Lives Matter group as "a far-left, Marxist organisation".

Farage has not addressed his LBC exit on social media but did talk about the issue during an appearance on LBC's rival station talkRADIO this morning.

Asked what was next for him, he replied: "I haven't decided. The break with LBC - well, we'd been in negotiations for some time, but in the end, as with everything in life, it happens rather suddenly.

"I've no wish to comment about it. I've no wish to display sour grapes or anything like that at all.

"The great thing in life when things happen and big changes occur, the best thing anyone can do is look forwards and not backwards. I've had lots of texts from people saying 'it must have been a very difficult day for you yesterday' and the response is, compared to climbing out of a light aircraft that's just crashed to the ground in 2010, it's pretty small.

"Whatever I do I want to be part of the public debate. One of the things I've got right over the years more often than not is I've generally had a feeling for where middle England is on the big issues.

"But for the next couple of weeks I'm going to go fishing and I'm waiting for the pubs to open."

Farage had presented a show on LBC for three-and-a-half years and last year bagged an exclusive interview with President Donald Trump for the station.
