Village People relieved at end of Donald Trump's
The Village People say that they are hopeful that Donald Trump will now stop playing their signature hits at political events.

The Village People have revealed that they are delighted that Donald Trump's time as President has come to an end as they hope he will now stop playing their music.

When he embarked upon a campaign for re-election last year, Trump had a bizarrely camp selection of songs on the playlist at his rallies around the country.

Village People's signature tunes 'Macho Man' and 'YMCA' were regularly used to gee up the crowd - and in one of the most surreal moments of 2020, Trump was seen dancing enthusiastically to the latter while on a high dose of coronavirus medicine.

"We asked him to cease and desist long ago. However, since he's a bully, our request was ignored," the band told TMZ.

"Thankfully he's now out of office, so it would seem his abusive use of our music has finally ended.

"We hope to spearhead a change in copyright law that will give artists and publishers more control over who can and cannot use our music in the public space. Currently there is no limit to blanket licensing."

Other songs used at Trump rallies included Laura Branigan's disco cover 'Gloria' and Rolling Stones classic 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'.
