Tom Moore to appear on Piers Morgan's Life Stories

Captain Sir Tom Moore is to be interviewed by Piers Morgan on a new episode of his Life Stories series.

Captain Sir Tom Moore is to be the subject of a new episode of Piers Morgan's Life Stories after his remarkable year.

The 100-year-old became a global figure of inspiration during the coronavirus lockdown as he attempted to walk 100 laps of his garden before he reached his milestone birthday at the end of April.

The fundraiser had a modest initial aim of raising £1,000 for the NHS but by the time it closed he had amassed donations totalling almost £33 million.

Morgan followed his efforts closely on Good Morning Britain and has now convinced him to take part in one of two new episodes of his Life Stories interview series that are due to be filmed next week.

"Like the rest of the nation, Piers was in awe of Sir Tom's fundraising," a source told The Sun. "The campaign really took off after Tom appeared on Good Morning Britain, so Piers feels great pride in what Tom achieved.

"In the dark days of lockdown, it was everyday heroes, not celebs, who brought joy to the nation.

"So while it's normally scandalous figures who make the best episodes on his show, Piers knew Tom's extraordinary, inspiring story would be a big draw."

The episode will air later this year on ITV.
