Netflix is said to be working on a project based on the so-called 'Wagatha Christie' row between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney.
Last year Rooney - wife of former Manchester United striker Wayne - revealed details of an elaborate honeytrap she had laid in order to find out which of her close friends had been selling stories about her to the newspapers.
The plot involved Rooney planting a number of fake stories on her private Instagram account and gradually restricting access until she could hone in on a culprit - and in a statement on social media claimed that Rebekah Vardy was the one.
An angry Vardy, wife of Leicester City's Jamie, hit back by saying that multiple people had been given access to her account over the years for marketing purposes and is now suing her former friend for defamation.
Responding to a post on Twitter listing the date and time of the case's preliminary hearing, Netflix's account replied with a 'pair of watching eyes' emoji.
The Daily Star claims that Netflix is planning a big-budget drama in the vein of The People versus OJ Simpson, although a one-off or limited-episode documentary is a more likely prospect should the streaming service commission a project around the saga.
The court case is expected to play out later this year.
